Congratulations Erica Brown-Yamada

Huge congratulations to 2022 College Sports Captain Erica Brown-Yamada for completing her Gold Duke of Edinburgh award recently. An amazing achievement - well done Erica!

"Completing my Gold Award was a highlight of my time at high school. The best parts of my award were my Gold Residential Project and Adventurous Journey. Volunteering at the Great Barrier Reef was an amazing experience - it broadened my horizons of the environment and animal conservation as I learnt first-hand about marine life protection and restoration. I also enjoyed my Adventurous Journey which consisted of hiking part of the Great North Walk in NSW. I made a new group of friends and we learnt how to navigate in the bush using a compass and map, sleeping in tents, and cooking our own camp food. Overall, completing my award was an invaluable experience that allowed me to gain skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership, alongside values of perseverance and courage. I will never forget the incredible memories and friendships."

Thank you to Mr Monaghan and Miss Wong for being my Assessors and supporting me for the Service section.
