MGC wins School Weightlifting Championship

On Friday October 21st MGC competed in the Victorian School League Weightlifting Championships. It was a small team with only my sister Thicia and I representing the school. I won a silver medal in the under 55kg category and Thicia won a gold medal in the under 49kg category. We also won the Strongest School Female Team Award for MGC!  Weightlifting is a great sport for girls. Thicia and I train at the Hawthorn Weightlifting Club and have a wonderful female coach, Kate Linford.  Weightlifting builds confidence, power and balance and supplements my fencing training and Thicia’s karate training. I hope the school’s success in this competition encourages other girls to start weightlifting.

2022 Boroondara Literacy Awards

Congratulations to Summer Bramberger and Mia Kagiaros who both recognition for their entries in the Boroondara Literary Awards 2022:

Summer was given a Highly Commended for her young writers prose-senior prose ‘Sweet Little Sunsets’ while Mia received a 1st and 2nd prize for her entries into the Literary Awards. 

Congratulations to both these year 10 students.
