As soon as the season of Advent began, the Elf on the Shelf arrived at St Aidan’s to great excitement, and students and teachers alike wanted to celebrate the coming of Christmas with Christmas trees and decorations. All the students from Kindergarten to Year 4 were striving to be on their best behaviour, (as always!) but those cheeky elves were constantly up to mischief, much to the children’s delight.
All the students had a fabulous time last week auditioning for our Talent Show and/or being part of the audience. The Grand Finale took place last Monday afternoon. The funds raised by the competition entrants will go towards our sandwich drive for the St Vincent de Paul Night Patrol in 2023.
GERRIC is the University of NSW program for gifted and talented students (those that perform in the top 10% of their age peers) in Years 3-10 at Australian primary or secondary school. It offers a school holiday program that expands the minds of bright, inquisitive individuals looking for an intellectual challenge that is demanding and fun.
GERRIC Student Programs open a student’s mind to abilities they may not have known they possess. At UNSW, gifted students meet others who share their interests and they are taught by educators who love working in this field. The program runs for three days and gives students the opportunity to work on a small project. Both online and on-campus workshops are offered.
Please click on the link below if you are interested in finding out more about these programs. Registration is now open and please be aware that places fill quickly.
GERRIC Student Programs January 2023
Congratulations to Odin and Duke Pireh who attended a Mindquest Enrichment Weekend and completed a workshop on “Secret Missions”.
We hope everyone enjoyed our Christmas Concert on Tuesday evening. A huge thank you to Ms Mia Phillips, Mrs Helen Shaw, Ms Jessica Preece and all the teachers for the skills and the enthusiasm they shared with the students. All the performances from Kindergarten to Year 6 , Choir and Showgroup were outstanding. Our students are certainly multi-talented. We could not help but notice the children’s wide smiles and pure enjoyment in their singing and dancing.
Wishing you all the blessings of the Christmas season and a very happy New Year. See you in 2023.
