Principal's Views

From Mandy O'Mara

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Epping Views PS,

I hope you had a great break doing things you love and spending time with people that you care about.

Term 3 is already shaping up to be a busy one:

We are looking forward to following and celebrating the FIFA World Cup. Each class has been allocated a country to follow and cheer on.

Our Preps will be celebrating 100 Days of school early in August.

The whole school will celebrate Children’s Book Week 19 August to Friday, 25 August 2023. This year the theme is READ, GROW, INSPIRE.

Our Grade 6 students will be attending camp and hosting the infamous “Night of Notables”.

This term we will be undertaking a school review.

As part of the improvement cycle,

  • All schools must participate in a school review every 4 years.
  • The school review informs the development of the school’s 4 year School Strategic Plan (SSP).
  • The school review also provides assurance of ongoing compliance with the Minimum Standard related to curriculum and student learning.

As part of this review we would like to hear from parents/carers - please indicate your highlights of EVPS over the past four years in this short survey

https://forms.office.com/r/0E2Rzaj8Cw

All responses to the survey are anonymous.

I will keep you updated about the stages of the review as we progress through each one.

You will notice that a few things have been happening over the break.

Four of the pink portables have gone and the ground work has been completed- meaning the area has been levelled off and grass seeds have been laid. The green toilet block has been demolished, but unfortunately some damage has been done to the basketball court in the process of the demolition. Temporary fencing will be put up to avoid anyone getting hurt.

The sick bay has been relocated during the break. We now have a large, bright sick bay that is accessible from the yard and the Admin Building.

The play pod has been relocated to the small grassed area near the canteen and will soon be filled with exciting loose parts for our students to play with.

This term we welcome Amy Winley to Prep AP, Tom Thornycroft to 2GC and David Kalenjuk to the position of IT technician.

I’d like to thank all of the families who attended the 3 Way Conferences last term. I trust you enjoyed sharing your child’s successes and highlights of Semester 1. Student reports were uploaded to Compass at the end of last term. If you have any concerns re your child’s/children’s reports I encourage you to contact the office to make an appointment to discuss your concerns with your child’s teacher.

Policies:

All EVPS policies can be found on our website.  I draw your attention to our Anaphylaxis Policy. The purpose of this policy is to ensure our school manages students at risk of anaphylaxis and meets legislative requirements, and to ensure all staff can respond to an anaphylactic reaction.

You will find all child safe policies on our web page.

I welcome and encourage your feedback on this and all other policies.  If you have any suggestions, comments or questions in relation to our child safe policies and practices, please contact the school.
