Performing Arts News

Over the last three weeks the Year 9 Performing Arts Class presented to three enthusiastic audiences their Production: Mermaid. Murder. Mayhem. The students put a considerable amount of their own time into honing their performance and design crafts to create a show that the College community was extremely proud of. The students enthusiasm, sense of humour and work ethic is a testament to themselves and the support networks they have around them; to the family, friends and supporters, we thank you.

It is important to note that the class created this show from the ground up, each student undertook both a performance and production role. The lighting, sound, costume, set, prop, hair and make up design you witnessed on stage was an example of their creativity and passion.

 Special Thanks

The students have been supported by a passionate team of staff and students, whose guidance and enthusiasm has been inspiring.

2022 EDSC Alumni Thomas Shim volunteered his own time to train students up in lighting and sound. After completing his studies at the college Tom has had invaluable experience working on the Australian tour of Hairspray the Musical whilst completing his university studies. The show would not be possible without Tom and his generosity.

One of the highlights of putting on a show is bringing students across the school together and showcasing their talents. We would like to thank Art superstars Anika 11I, Paria 11D, Katie 11J, Kaveesha 11F and Rebecca 12B for helping with set painting, Lola , Lilly  and Samar 9D for prop creations and Lachlan, Charlie, Andrew, Reece, AJ and Greg 11VM for assisting with bumping in of sets.  Cheers to Oscar 12J for being on hand to assist with microphones. Thanks to Xavier 9C, Rose 10L and Zoe 10N for filming the shows. A big thank you to Year 12 Media Studies and Visual Communication & Design guru Kayley 12C who created promotional materials for the show with a constant smile on her face.

We also greatly appreciate the efforts of Els De Graaf, Mandi Pigdon, Lisa Bull, Le Dodd, Julie Lawrance and Fiona Roper for their administrational support.

Finally, a big thanks to the fellow Performing Arts team members, Scott Copeman, Megan Thompson and Alana Schwalger for their help throughout in a multitude of areas!

We hope you enjoyed the performances and appreciate your support of the cast and crew.
