The Best Distractions

Celebrating our Learning

I am blessed everyday to have multiple Curiosity learners make their way to my office to either share in something exciting about their learning or wanting me to go and see what they have been investigating.  These moments are the BEST distractions to my day and I love them.  There is nothing greater than listening to the excitement of a child as they catch their breath sharing about their new found knowledge.

As Carla Rinaldi says, "Each child has his or her own 'baggage' of hypotheses on the possible sense and meaning of things," and as we come to this realisation education takes on a very different lens.  It is through these hypotheses that we are able to discuss, find conflict, challenge, question and ultimately listen to one another as we make possible sense and meaning of things.

As I look through the archive of documentary evidence of the children's learning this Semester, I can see woven in and out of their days this notion that learning is about a conviction to go on a venture where ideas are shared in the process of 're-cognition.'

"Re-cognition, does not mean simply gathering thoughts, but the enrichment of one's own knowledge through the knowledge of others."

Enjoy a glimpse into the learning that has transpired this Term.

Next week your child's Mid-Year Reflection will be uploaded to Storypark for your viewing. The Lead Educators have taken great care in creating these pieces of documentation that highlights your child's learning disposition as they have entered into 're-cognition' so far this year.  We trust that you will treasure these documents and celebrate the wonder of learning at Curiosity with your child.

I do want to give a special thank you to Mrs Shelly, who took on teaching 'Music & Movement' as Mrs Deanshaw was appointed the Director of Junior School.  Mrs Shelly has a passion for Creative Arts and loves to sing, however we know that this added an extra element to her week.  Thank you Shelly for being willing to step up so that our children could continue to enjoy the language of 'Music & Movement.'  A new teacher has been appointed to commence in Term 3, so we look forward to sharing this announcement with you.

As we begin school holidays, I wish you all a wonderful three weeks together.  Blessings of safety as you travel and health on your return back to us on July 24th.

We are looking forward to a fabulous Term 3 with you all!
