Sydney Eisteddfod News

I’m very excited to share some fabulous results from our Jazz Ensembles and Concert Bands at last week’s Sydney Eisteddfod, held at The Concourse:

Senior Jazz Ensemble – First place, conducted by Mr Geoff Power, in the Premier Section of the competition;
Middle School Concert Band – First place, conducted by Miss Laura Power, in the Secondary Senior Novice Band section;
Junior Jazz Ensemble - Third place, conducted by Mr Geoff Power, in the Secondary School Novice Stage Band section.

These were hotly contested placements in a large field of entries. Enormous thanks to our talented and dedicated Ensemble Directors, Mr Geoff Power, Ms Laura Power, Mr David Sismey and Mrs Stella Talati for the way they continuously inspire our boys to be the best musicians they can be and provide them with a wide range of performance opportunities, both within and outside our College community. Thank you to Mrs Talati for organising our entries into the Eisteddfod. The boys were applauded on the podium at our Co-curricular Assembly last week, with the winning plaques awarded by Mr Ronchetti. They are now proudly displayed in our trophy cabinet in the foyer.

Ensembles

If your son is keen to join an ensemble, he is welcome to come for a tryout before committing. Semester 2 will see the ensembles start new repertoire so is an excellent time to join. Please ask your son to see either myself, Mrs Talati or the Ensemble Director concerned for more information. More information can also be found on the College website under Performing Arts.

Drama Ensemble Rehearsals:

Intermediate Ensemble Thursday 15 June at 3:30 pm
Junior Ensemble Friday 17 June at 8:30 am
Senior Ensemble Monday 19 June at 3:30 pm

HSC Rehearsals:

Friday 17 June from 3:30 pm -5:30 pm
Sunday 18 June from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Year 9 Drama & Chinese Cultural Excursion:

Wednesday 21 June (to see the performance of Yong at the Opera House and then visit Chinatown for lunch accompanied by Ms Lee and her Year 9 and 10 Chinese classes)
