Principal's News

(90% Excited/10%Oh My Gosh!)

Dear Families

A Word from Wendy

Welcome Back to Term 4 - with the very exciting news that we are all back onsite next week.  We are so looking forward to seeing you all!! It has been a very quiet school without the noise, bustle and laughter that is normally associated with schools.  Again, I would like to thank you all for your kind words and congratulations on my Principalship at St Brigid's - I am so very excited to be sharing this learning and community journey with you all.

Please feel free to email or ring me if you have any questions. My email address is wsullivan@sbmord.catholic.edu.au or prinicpal@sbmord.catholic.edu.au.

I would like to say a huge thank you, to you the parents, grandparents and carers that have had the job of home schooling your children. You have all done a sensational job which is clearly evident by the work the teachers have received either via email or Hapara.

I would also like to thank the teachers and support staff who have worked online with the students - it certainly was a steep learning curve for us all and we have done an amazing job.

A big thank you to Tracey and Michele who managed to keep our office running smoothly from home.

Welcome to Jodie Marziano, who is the Acting Deputy Principal for Term 4.  Jodie was/is our Religious Education Leader at St Brigid’s and St Louis. We work very well together and I am looking forward to working with Jodie as Deputy this term.  We will be advertising the Deputy Role to start in 2021.

Well…..I have survived the first week! There were a lot of firsts for me this week, including my first (but certainly not my last!) newsletter.

Just a few housekeeping reminders for students coming back to school next week.

  • Sanitising - students will have their hands sanitised before school, before and after recess, before and after lunch and at the end of the day. Temperature checks are not required by students for Term 4, but teachers and anyone who comes on site will be temperature checked.
  • Drop off  and pick up will be through 2 entry points - A-K surnames via Chute Street and L-Z via Barkley Street.

On Monday 12th October the gates will be open from 8.30am - 9.00am. This is so devices and tubs can be brought back to school. Children with devices will return them to the hall as they come to school.  If you have a school device on loan, can you please ensure that they are returned on Monday with the appropriate charging cables, as we need to update each computer/ipad and we want to get them back into our classrooms as soon as possible.

From Tuesday 13th gates will be open from 8.30am - 8.45am.  Gates will be open from 3.15pm - 3.30pm for pick up at the end of the day.  Please make sure you adhere to social distancing whilst dropping off and picking up your children as there is a high possibility of police presence around schools.

  • Crossing supervisors will be back on work as of Monday 12th October.
  • Summer Uniform, including hats are to be worn for Term 4. We will have a weeks grace period as the weather is a bit uncertain at the moment and I am sure our children have grown since Term 1.

Readers/Library

Our take home reading program will commence again next week.  From Week 3 we will be back to our normal 'Pre-Covid' Take Home Reading Program.

Pack extra snacks!

With your children being at home and able to access the kitchen whenever they feel hungry, it might be a good idea to pack some extra snacks for next week.  You will be then get a good guide as to what your child needs at school by what comes home in their lunch box.  Also a reminder that each child must bring their own drink bottle as our drinking taps remain out of use.  Students can fill up their bottles during the day.

Summer Uniform and Hats

Students are to wear their correct summer uniform in Term 4.  There will be a two week transition period to account to the unseasonal weather.  We just ask that students are in either their winter or summer uniform - not a mixture of both.  All Students must have a School Hat from Monday, so please check your child's hat is in a respectable condition and that it is clearly named.  In accordance with COVID-19 Regulation all our classrooms will require external ventilation, so if its cool students are free to bring in an extra jacket.

Specialist Timetable - Term 4

Please note: All Foundation, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Students must bring an Art Smock

Updated Privacy Policy and Standard Collection Notice

In line with Catholic Education Commission of Victoria, our Privacy Policy and Standard Collection Notice have now been updated.  Copies of both polices are attached below and are also available on our website.

Tuckshop and Uniform Shop - Term 4

The Tuckshop will remain closed in Term 4 in accordance with current COVID-19 Restrictions.  The Uniform Shop is also closed for onsite visits, however families can make online purchases and these will be delivered to your child via their classrooms.  All orders should be placed via CDFpay.
