Stress Management Session
At our final Well-being Year Level Meet for the term, all Year 10-12 international students attended a special session on Stress Management delivered by Collingwood College School Nurse, Lauren Pilakis. This was an informative presentation on additional stress related issues that many international students contend with – in addition to the normal stresses of everyday life – such as living away from family, homesickness, high expectations and language barriers. Lauren shared useful strategies to manage stress and highlighted the importance of staying connected, relaxation and getting enough sleep each night. Lifeline information was also shared. It was very pleasing to see our students engaged in this presentation by making comments in the Chat and asking questions.
Positive Baking Behaviour!
Year 10 student Cosmy Wang has been at it again (you may remember him from his Great Bake-off cake entry earlier in the term) by using cooking as a coping mechanism during #2 Lockdown. What a wonderful way to find time out away from screens! Well done Cosmy!
VCE Study Break
As highlighted in our last newsletter article, we are thinking of our Year 12 international students as they enter the ‘STUDY BREAK’ period prior to final examinations. This is a most important time in revising notes, completing practice tasks and reaching out to teachers with questions. Year 12 Tutorial recently focussed on effective study habits and strategies for revision, and students were advised to organise a study plan for all subjects. Additionally, students are reminded to combine their study with a healthy balance of physical activity and mental relaxation.
The International Students Support Team would like to wish all international and homestay families a safe holiday, and we again acknowledge the collective effort in making it to the end of the term under challenging circumstances.
Take Care,
The International Support Team
