A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is hard to believe we are on the countdown to holidays once again! This week is an ideal time to reflect on our achievements during Term 3. I asked the students what they were proud of in their learning and you can see from their comments they have improved in many areas.

From the Infants students

Cynthia “I can read.”

Marshall “I can write a sentence using a capital letter, finger spaces and a full stop.”

Hayden “I have learnt all about the seasons and December is in Summer.”

Phoebe “I am proud that I can do multiplication like 4x4=16.”

Charlie “I am proud I learnt a lot about multiplication for example I know 4x20=80 and 6x10=60.”

Jorja “I have learnt about the weather, all the seasons and the months our birthdays are in.”

Ricky “I am proud of my times tables and using my reading strategies.”

From the Primary students

Zeb “I am proud I can understand fractions now and know what a quarter is and a tenth is.”

Maddie “I know there are different types of fractions and I can skip count fractions!”

Brandan "I have learnt to make my stories more interesting by building tension.”

Joel “ I have been learning to use describing words and if you practice you get better.”

Lisa-Rae “I am proud of my ‘Drought’ poem because it is an emotional poem and it has emotive openers.”

Faith “I am proud I have mastered the division algorithm because of Mrs Meade’s help.”

Matthew “I have improved my Big Writes by writing more and using ambitious connectives.”

This week we welcome Mr Aaron Vernon to St Joey's as he is completing the practical component of an Education Support TAFE course in Mrs Meade's class. Aaron will be with us each Monday and Tuesday morning.

Yesterday I received feedback from the recent whole school survey. Thank you to the parents/carers for taking the time to complete this survey. The many positive comments about our wonderful teachers and the care they give to the students stood out for me in this survey. We really are blessed to have such a connected and positive school community and I know that together we can achieve great things. Don’t forget if you have a question or concern please don’t hesitate to contact me.

We have been busy planning for next term to ensure even if events don’t go ahead as usual we will be creative and come up with an alternate plan. During the holidays don’t forget to start planning for our Book Fair Dress up. The theme this year is Book Fair Jungle: Elephants, Tigers, and Books, OH MY!

I wish all our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
