Around the school

A message from the School Council Chair

Principal Recruitment Update

After seeking input from staff and reviewing the needs of the school going forward, school council commenced the principal recruitment process last term. With the assistance of LESNW, a job advert, comprehensive job description and principal position handbook was finalised.

The process to date has been quite exhaustive and I wish to thank everyone that offered their input and expressed their views. I would also like to thank the council team for preparing, in a short amount of time, a concise set of recruitment documents that we believe accurately reflect our school and the criteria required for the person to lead it.

Applications closed earlier this week. An appropriate selection and interview panel is being appointed to assess the applications.

We ask the school community to pray for guidance and wisdom for those involved in this process.

Canteen

Plain Chicken Burger

Did you know that the canteen makes plain chicken burgers (chicken patty and bun with the option of sauce and cheese)? They are $ 4.30 with a choice of sauce (no extra) and cheese (an extra 50 cents).

Refurbishment

Refurbishment work: Over the last term and especially these last few weeks quite a lot has been happening around the school.

  • Front office: Unfortunately, there have been a few hiccups with the completion of this job. However, we are expecting the office refurbishment to be completed by the end of next week. It certainly looks great and we are looking forward to this being completed.
  • Gardens: A complete revamp of the gardens have certainly provided us with a fresh new look. These are essentially completed now and with the onset of warmer weather will ensure good growth in the plants.
  • Painting: Over the holidays our painting program began. Upon return to school next year you will notice that the whole school has been repainted. We have begun with the exterior of the school, which should be completed in the next few weeks. The whole interior will be painted during the Christmas holidays so there is no disruption to students and their learning.
  • Mural: The brick wall in the undercover area is prepared for the mural which will be painted on there in the coming month or so. We are in the final stages of agreeing to the design. Students have had a lot of input (agency) into this design and it will add to the

School photos have been sent home this week. If you have not received your copies please contact the class teacher in the first instance and then the office.

Class Structure

Class structures for 2021 have now been finalised. Class structures will be the same as this year (2 x F, 3 x 1/2, 3 x 3/4 and 3 x 5/6). At this point, staffing has not been completed for 2021.

Pyjama Day

The Class Carers have organised a pyjama day for the students on Friday 23 October 2020. Students may wear their pyjamas to school for a gold coin donation.

All proceeds go towards providing meals and support for families in times of need.

Ooshies

A one-day trading session will be held next Wednesday (21st) for students who may wish to complete collections etc. This will be supervised by staff and ooshies are to stay in school bags when the ‘swap’ session is not on. This will be held at lunchtime.
