eSafety Notification

On Tuesday, the eSafety Commissioner notified the school of distressing reports about a video of a suicide circulating social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik Tok. In some cases the video has been reported to be embedded in other content that would appeal to young people. 

 

eSafety has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation.

 

This information has not been shared with our students as this may encourage them to seek out the material however our Wellbeing and Boarding staff are alert to the issue and will monitor students and check in with them about their interactions on and offline. 

 

Please exercise discretion in any communication about this incident to your children. We encourage you to keep your children offline for 24 hours if possible and to supervise social media interactions until the content is removed.

 

If your child has viewed this material and you are concerned about their wellbeing, please contact your child’s Mentor or their Head Mentor.
