National eSmart Week

Next week is National eSmart Week, running from Sunday 6th – Saturday 12th September 2020.  eSmart week is a week where schools and public libraries come together to promote the smart, safe and responsible use of digital technology. This year the theme is ‘Connecting Safely’ which is very appropriate given the current circumstances.

To explore this concept students will participate in lessons revolving around being safe online and on their devices, sharing personal information and being a responsible digital citizen.

If ever there was a time to ensure our students were safe online, it would be now, when technology and being a responsible digital citizen is at the forefront of almost everything we are doing. This is  brilliant time for families to revisit what being a responsible and safe digital citizen looks like. We encourage you all to sit down and have a family conversation centred on this and the activities your child completes for eSmart week.

Premiers' Reading Challenge, 16 days to go!

Hi Kids! Get involved in the 2020 Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge, which has been extended and will now continue until the 18th September. The Challenge is a fun way for you to keep a record of your reading and push you to read as many books as you can.

Due to the restrictions with accessing books at libraries, the requirements have been changed at BPS so that all books read can be free choice books. Prep to Year 2 students have a target to read or experience 30 free choice books. Students from Year 3 up are challenged to read 15 free choice books. It has never been easier for participants to record their reading online and meet the BPS challenge requirements!

Kids, your login details have previously been sent home. Check with your teacher or ask your parent to call the school office if you have misplaced your login details.

A number of you have already completed the Challenge. Successful participants will receive their certificates in early term 4.
