Sub School News

Year 7

I was extremely impressed with the Y7 cohort last week and received lots of positive feedback from their teachers saying how lovely they were and how excited they are to be teaching them this year. It is my role to ensure that the students have a smooth transition into high school, setting them up for success as they move through school and into employment.  I will be checking students attitudes to learning, attendance, uniform and general behaviours in and around school.  Helping me in this privileged position is a team of teachers.  We are always here to answer questions or any queries that you may have throughout the next few years.  The junior sub school team and our email addresses are as follows:

Harry Potter - harry.potter@education.vic.gov.au

Annette Gardner - annette.gardner@education.vic.gov.au

Crystal Chinn - crystal.chinn@education.vic.gov.au

Below is a bit of information regarding day to day practices at the school:

Timetable: The school operates a 2 week timetable.  There are 5 periods in a day that are 60 minutes in length and all students must attend each class ready to learn.  This means they must have their books, stationary and a device.  School starts at 9am and finishes at 3pm.  If a student is less than 20 minutes late to P.1 they go straight to class.  If over 20 minutes they must sign in at the front office.

Uniform: There are 2 uniform options currently and students have a choice in which one they wear.  Normal school uniform (summer dress for girls) with black leather shoes or the sport uniform with runners.  These uniforms can not be mixed and matched e.g. normal school uniform with runners.  If a student has PE on a certain day, they must be in the sport uniform.  If uniform is in the wash or there are issues, please send the student in with a note and the sub school team will issue the student with a uniform pass for the day.

Face masks:  Currently these are compulsory in all indoor settings.  If a student is exempt  from wearing a mask, the school must have a current up to date medical exemption note from a GP.  We don't have access of ones from primary school so these may need updating.

Attendance:  We aim to have all of our students attending school 100% of the time but understand that this isn't always possible.  If a student is absent for any reason, please complete an absence note on compass or call the school administration.  If a student is displaying signs and symptoms of Covid, please stay at home and complete the necessary actions regarding testing.

Camp: We still have availability for students to attend camp.  I would like to take at least 80 students and we are slightly shy of this number.  I extended the time to return paperwork and deposits to Thursday 3rd February at 4pm.  More information about camp for those attending has also been distributed.

I look forward to getting to know your children and yourselves over the course of the next few years.  If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me or any member of the sub school team.

Welcome Back Students

Last week, we welcomed back our Middle School students (Yr 9's & 10's) with a specially designed Start Up Program, designed to support students in getting back into the swing of learning after the summer holidays. Students have had the chance to explore key ideas like kindness, goal setting and leadership.

They have had a wonderful week and are raring to go on their regular class curriculum, which started this Monday.

Blue Edge

Blue EDGE is a holistic program run by Blue Light in partnership with Victorian Police. The aim is to build team cohesion, social connectedness and awareness of their ability to achieve beyond their own expectations.  Our program kicked off for Year 9 students this week with some fantastic activities. It was great to see our students participating and having fun!
