Assistant Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

To the wonderful JMSS community,

It is my great pleasure to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal of Student Wellbeing, Achievement and Empowerment. I am incredibly honoured to hold this position and look forward to working with all stakeholders of this community to build upon the amazing work that has already occurred at JMSS that makes it such an amazing school.

I would first like to launch our new wellbeing email – wellbeing@jmss.vic.edu.au. This email can be used by any member of our community to contact JMSS’ Wellbeing Team. This email is primarily about allowing JMSS to support a student’s needs outside of the classroom. If the email is of an urgent matter regarding a student’s immediate safety, please type ‘URGENT’ in the title of the email. For academic support, please direct those emails to either the subject teacher or the student’s mentor.

Student Leadership, Voice and Agency is a fundamental aspect of our school. Student Parliament will be kicking off soon. In the meantime, our Interact Club is launching their year with a Valentine’s Day event. There will be more information going out to students via a Compass newsfeed very soon.

School Photos are occurring on 16th February. It is important that all households familiarise themselves with our uniform policy (https://jmss.vic.edu.au/community/policies/) and ensure students are in full school uniform on that day and every day. The photo taken on the day will be used as the student’s photo identification on Compass, but are also able to be purchased. Please see the ordering details attached.

Finally, I would like to thank the community for your support of the new COVID measures. The information and guidelines changed a number of times in late January. As a school we were sending out updated guidelines in Peter Corkill's updates. To ensure our community has the most current information and there is one source of truth, we will now be referring you to our COVID landing page on the school website (https://jmss.vic.edu.au/community/covid-updates/). 

This will ensure everyone is referring to the current guidelines and allows for easy and smooth adjustments as required.
