Helping Your Child Develop Resistance

Youmay not be aware that one way to develop resistance is through music making. Click on this LINK to discover the details.

STUFFit Film Festival

Congratulations to Archie Rudolphy who was shortlisted to be a finalist in the STUFFit Film Festival. This is a film festival competition for high school students from around the country. The festival has been running since 2011 and receives entries from every state and territory in Australia. To be a shortlisted finalist is a huge achievement. Bravo, Archie.

St Joseph’s Fete

The Saints Big Band performed at the St Joseph’s fete  this afternoon. The fete was sadly postponed due to inclement weather last term. The band did a 20-minute set to a very appreciative audience. We’re very pleased to be able to get out into the community and share our music making with others.

Communication

Much of our communication with students is via Teams, email and copied into parent slips. Please encourage your son to check these regularly so he stays abreast of what is happening, particularly given we’ve had some very last minutes changes of late due to injury and illness. Your son is also expected to communicate absences due to illness or injury with the director of any ensembles he's a part of or his instrumental music teacher, as the student office does not pass on such information.

There are many avenues for parent communication – parent slips, the Arts Department Facebook page, college newsletter and email. Please check these regularly so you can stay abreast of what is happening across the College in the arts.

Spirit of Arts Awards

All students who participate in Music, Drama, Visual Art, and Film Television and New Media are eligible to apply for an award. Handbooks and journals are available from the arts staffroom at any time and we would encourage everyone to participate in the program.

For any questions about these awards not outlined in the journal, please contact me at cspannenbu@cns.catholic.edu.au.

Any opportunities for our arts students outside the College are published on the Arts Facebook Page. Upcoming performances and events are also published there under Events. Be sure to like the page to keep up with what’s happening around the College.
