School Council

Menzies Creek School Council

On Monday evening, we held our 2022 School Council AGM.  It was a chance to reflect on the achievements for 2021 and to thank departing members and welcome new members.

Thank you to our departing members Anna Benjamin, Hayley Coviello and Angus McGuckian.  

Anna, with support from other Community Relations Subcommittee members and the community arranged the stalls for Mother’s and Father’s Day which are always a much-loved shopping experience for the kids.  Anna was instrumental in organising the painting of the shipping containers.  Anna will continue her passion project on the Reconciliation Action Plan, working with the school to hopefully implement this year.  

Hayley has worked closely with the preschool staff to bring a closer connection and a voice to the Preschool on School Council.  With the grants, engagement with Council and support from the community the outdoor play space at the Preschool is looking amazing.  Hayley and Angus worked on the survey to the community, communicating the potential options to change preschool session times and supported the engagement with the community in the process.  Hayley, with support from the school/preschool community also arranged one of the favourite events - the Mother’s Day Movie Night.

Although Hayley and Anna are stepping down from School Council they have both kindly agreed to continue to help support the organising of social events in 2022 which we are sure the rest of School Council are very grateful for. 

Angus’ knowledge of Council processes provided much needed support to the Preschool Subcommittee.  He also worked closely with Hayley on the survey for the proposed changes to preschool session times and supported the engagement with the community in the process.  Angus also contributed to the Facilities Subcommittee.  

We have welcomed Dean Wall as a member of the 2022 School Council.
