PATHWAYS & CAREERS

MS SALLY LOONEY & MS BRENDA BRADY - PATHWAYS TEAM

Students from all year levels are encouraged to come and see us in the Pathways Office if they have questions or are unsure of their career pathway and study options.  Many students also come and ask for assistance if they are seeking part-time employment and they need help preparing their resume.

Students are encouraged to focus on their career development by investigating post school options in occupations they are considering.  Examples may be:

  • Attending Open Days
  • Undertaking work experience
  • Reading Course Guides
  • Speaking to someone they know who is studying or working in an area of interest
  • Volunteering or community service activities

We support students in all year levels, whether it be subject selection, work experience, university applications or assistance getting into the work force. We have a fortnightly class with the Year 12 students and Year 9 students, weekly Pathways classes with Year 10 students and a scheduled class at least once a term to meet with Year 11 students.  The Year 9 and Year 10 classes are designed to inspire students to explore pathway options through interests and subjects they enjoy now but to also understand that it is okay if their pathway plans change over time.

Work Experience

This week we are speaking to all Year 10 students about our Work Experience program.  This is a wonderful opportunity for students to do a placement in an industry of their choice.  Placements prominently are in Swan Hill but students are able to venture further afield with their parent’s support.

Students in 10A will undertake Work Experience from Monday, April 4th to Friday, April 8th. 10B students from Monday, June 20th to Friday, June 24th and 10C students from Monday, September 12th to Friday, September 16th.

Students have been encouraged to speak with their parents and start planning!
