Interview with Most Improved Golfer
Name: Kimberley Erwin 7A
Interviewer: Jess Mitreski Year 7 Co-coordinator
How old are you? 12
Favourite colour: Purple
Favourite pre-golf meal: Hot chocolate with a side of bacon and eggs.
How old were you when you got into golf? Started playing golf around 4 years of age. Had random plastic golf clubs at home and a plastic ball and I just started hitting it round the green.
Peter (Dad) plays golf, so does my older sister Tash and her boyfriend.
Who is the better golfer out of those three? Dad is the best as he has been playing a lot longer than they have.
Golf tips: 1. Hands Should be close together, not far apart (don't hold like a hockey stick).
2. Good posture (slight lean forward). 3. If you play a bad shot, don't get angry, keep going.
Favourite Golfer: Marianne Skarpnord.
Favourite golf memory: When I was in the middle of the trees, Dad told me not to play an iron (ignored that instruction), got out the iron and hit the ball straight between two trees and into the hole.
Kim's words of wisdom: I have seen a lot of younger players that are better than me but they let the aggression get the better of their game. That's why I am still playing, because I LOVE the game.
How many tournaments have you played in and what is your best result? I have played 206 tournaments and my best result was 44 Stableford points.
2018 Tournament win: In 2018 I was awarded the Most Improved Golfer for all the age groups at Bairnsdale Golf Course.
Favourite golf shot: Putting as it is the most important thing of all. I practise this the most.
Least favourite shot: Bunker shot, they're not too bad, I just hate getting out of them.
