Weekly Message

Hello Aspire CCPA,

This past week has been a week of reflection, learning and planning for me. While up in Oakland all first-year and second-year principals sat in professional development around student culture and tiered support, LCAP writing and action planning, consultancy protocols, instructional leadership teams, as well as personal leadership. Even though most of these topics I have heard and attended professional development on I always find myself walking away with some new learning. Sometimes it’s difficult to do so, but I encouraged myself to always walk away from every experience as a new learning experience. I feel as educators if want our students to be lifelong learners, we should do the same.

An offering to you all is to find something you are interested in and learn more about it. It can be something related to education, or outside of education. For myself, I want to learn more about organizational leadership. How to, directly and indirectly, coach and support multiple individuals. Outside of education, I am continuing to develop my cooking skills. For some that I may know, I have begun to delve into “smoked meats”. My plan over winter break is to master the art of smoked brisket and tri-tip. Wish me, lunch everyone.

#lifelonglearner

Best,

Mike
