Assistant Principal's Report

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY

Teachers have two Professional Practice Days per year as part of the teacher agreement to further develop their teaching practice.

Our first Professional Practice Day for the year is next week on Friday 2nd of June. While our students take a well-deserved break, our dedicated staff will be busy enhancing their classroom skills through various Professional Development activities.

Full day care will be available through OSHC program.

NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORYTIME

Orchard Park had a blast participating in our first-ever National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday the 24th of May.

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held every year by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read at the same time in libraries, schools and many other places around the country.

Our students had a great time following along with 'The Speedy Sloth' as Mr. Jagoe read over the speaker.

DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY

Congratulations to our super speedy athletes who have advanced to the Division Cross Country event! Mieke Ferguson, Jacob Ford, Anannya Mardolkar, Remt McCallum, Koby Postlethwaite, Lexi Ravenhall, Holly Shores, and Harley Sinni all placed in the top 10 during the district event. Let's give them a big round of applause and wish them the best of luck as they compete at Toomuc Reserve in Pakenham on Wednesday 31st May 2023. Go team!

HOT MILOS

Our Year 6 students are continuing to fundraise for their Graduation at the end of the year. In light of the cooler months, they have made a delicious switch from selling Zooper Doopers to serving up Hot Milos instead. These warm drinks are $1 and have been an instant hit among our students, providing them with a cozy treat during chilly days.

Additionally, we have an exciting opportunity for our students to use their hard-earned spark bucks. By purchasing a coupon at the prize shop, they can enjoy a Hot Milo using their spark bucks as payment. Remember, our spark bucks are earned through the School Wide Positive Behaviour Program, where students demonstrate our school values. So, why not engage in a conversation during the walk or drive home and ask your children about their spark buck count and what they're earning them for? It's a great way to connect and celebrate their achievements. Thank you for your continued support, and let's keep the Hot Milos flowing!
