Ascension Sunday

This weekend we celebrate The Feast of the Ascension. It is an important holy day for many Christians around the world. Ascension Day is marked on the sixth Thursday in some countries, but on the sixth Sunday in Australia, after Easter Sunday. It dates back more than a thousand years, and marks the day the resurrected Jesus returns to heaven after 40 days back on Earth.

Uniform

Winter is here and with it comes the time for the students of St Mary's to begin wearing the winter uniform. We have now had a few weeks to get used to the change so as of Monday, all students should be in correct winter school uniform.

There are a variety of second hand items at the office, so if you are missing any items, drop in and see if there is anything that you may need.

It is also a great time to have a look at some of the summer uniform items and see if they are still in the best condition. Don't forget to give the hat a wash as well!

National Reconciliation Week

NRW begins on Saturday 27th May to Saturday 3rd June. Together we can learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. Students may be participating in some activities that promote reconciliation this week and we encourage families to learn with and extend student knowledge where possible.

Reminder

Playground supervision begins from 8:30am each morning then until 3:30pm at the pick-up area in the afternoon. Please be mindful that the classrooms are not open before 8:45am in the morning as teachers are preparing for the day and sometimes have meetings on. Students should be using the external stair case beside reception to enter the school grounds, not through the reception door please.

Mid-Year Reports

Currently teachers are working hard to moderate your children’s work to ensure that their reports are accurate and up to date with where their learning is positioned. I commend them for the energy, thoroughness, sincerity, and professionalism that they bring to their report writing. St Mary's School continues its firm commitment to working in partnership with parents to enable our children to achieve their best. In 2023, school reports are available through (PAM) Parent Access Module at the end of the term. This online system provides parent’s access to a range of information specific to your child including Mid and End of Year Reports.

2024 enrolments

We look forward to welcoming all new 2024 Foundation students next year but don’t forget to enrol first. If you’re wishing to enrol your child next year, enrolling early really supports our school wide planning for the best possible start for our young people. The more info we have about 2024, the better planned we can be. If you have new neighbours with kids, make sure you encourage them to join our school!  Drop in to the office for an enrolment pack.

Stay warm as the nights are getting colder!!
