A Special Goodbye

By Allen Dickson (Enrichment Co-ordinator)

Many people in our community have had their worlds turned upside-down due to the threat of this pandemic - our much-loved teacher John Campbell being one. Due to the vulnerability of his wife (Marslai) and her health concerns, John has had to make the difficult decision to finish up his teaching career here at BHCS. This is John's twelfth year of being on staff and we know that plenty of students - both past and present - have fond memories and fun stories about being in his classes.

In John's own words, his time at BHCS has been more than simply teaching. It has been his ministry, evident in his commitment to seeing students deepen their faith, understand the Bible and be an active part of a Christian community.

The BHCS Community's farewell gift to John was a whipper-snipper - according to John a much needed tool in his garden... but also emblematic of the care and growth he has encouraged in each student who walked through the school gates. Well done Mr Campbell.

John would like to leave us with this bible verse:

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father.

- Colossians 3:15-17
