RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Welcome to Catholic Education Week celebration. The theme this year is:
“May the Words you Speak always be full of Grace” (Col 4:6).
This coming Friday 26th May at 10:00am, the whole school will be attending Mass at St Mary’s Church along with St Brendan’s and St Mary’s Catholic Primary schools and some leaders from Trinity College.
Following Mass, there will be morning tea/recess at St Mary’s School where students and staff will enjoy morning tea and a brief catchup before heading back to Sacred Heart at 12:00pm.
This coming Sunday we celebrate the mystery of faith and unity of the Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Trinity Sunday marks the 50th day after Easter and the first Sunday after Pentecost Sunday. The day honours the descent of the Holy Spirit on Jesus’ apostles and followers of Jesus.
The Holy Spirit is the third person in the Trinity. It breathes God’s love and life into creation and inspires and supports our community through periods of growth and challenge.
Next week is National Reconciliation Week, a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements. A time to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
It’s been a whole year since we were given the opportunity to celebrate Reconciliation Week with an inspirational Aboriginal Elder, Dr Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM and four young Aboriginal children and teenagers from Nauiyu Community, NT. This year during Reconciliation Week, Miriam will be overseas and taking with her this year's theme ‘Be a Voice for Generations’.
Friday 16th June we will also be celebrating FEAST OF SACRED HEART beginning with a Mass at 10:00am in the MultiPurpose Room at Sacred Heart. Families are invited to join us for our school’s feast day mass and again for the “Jump Rope’ activities that will begin after recess at 11:30 am.
Thank you to all the families that have begun sending food and other goods in support of the Sacred Heart St Vinnies Appeal. Your kind donations will certainly be appreciated by those in need when they are delivered by our school leaders after Mass.
