Yarning Circle
Congratulations Ariel
Ariel (Grade 6) placed 3rd in regional school cross country this week. This means he will be off to the state competition next term! We are really proud of Ariel, who has trained four days a week, and has shown great determination and resilience to achieve this result.
Reconciliation week activities
Our Grade 6 students displayed outstanding leadership qualities as they lead yarning circles and taught our younger students how to play some fun First Nations games.
Flag Day
Thank you to our grade 6 Cultural Captains, who proposed this celebration and implemented their action plan to make it happen!
Prep and Grade 1
STEAM, Japanese and our (very popular) investigations classes have brought smiles (and sometimes seriously studious faces) to our engaged Prep and Grade 1 students.
Prep: Subtraction Bowling
How cool! Our Preps are learning subtraction by bowling on the Exon playground.
Grade 2
Performing arts classes have allowed students to explore their drama and music skills, while visual arts has unlocked creative skills. Grade 1 students have also loved learning about Australian currency and Grade 2 students have relished the chance to research famous activists.
Andy Grifiths Online Visit
Fans of the Treehouse books were thrilled to participate in an online visit from author Andy Grifiths. The session was filled with fun facts, laughter and behind-the-scenes information on what it takes to write a popular book series.
Grades 3 and 4
Planets and authors are the two main themes for our 3/4 hub at the moment. We don't want to give too much away, but our last assembly for the term will feature some seriously mind blowing facts about the solar system!
Author visit - George Ivanoff
Our Grade 3/4 hub were lucky enough to host author George Ivanoff in the flesh! He spoke about his life as an author, and answered questions from an excited audience. George is the author of the popular "You Choose" book range and other books including Monster Island.
Dr Karl virtual visit
Dr Karl joined our classrooms via video call. There were some brilliant questions and fascinating answers. We learnt that Redback spiders have a stripe to scare off predators, how F35s hover without rotors and that Dr Karl does not think AI will take over the world, but will change it.
Grades 5 and 6
Sport and STEAM have been highlights this fortnight. We have also seen many of our Grade 6 leadership action plans come to fruition. Check out our special Grade 6 leaders page where our Visual Arts and Respectful Relationships captains showcase some of what our students across the school have been learning and take a look at the beautiful art that they have created.
