Twelfth Night Review

Year 11 Theatre Studies Excursion to "Twelfth Night"

On Thursday the 2nd of March, Year 11 and 12 students from Staughton College’s Theatre classes experienced a performance of the Twelfth Night, performed by the Royal Shakespearean Company. During the evening, we had the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor surroundings of the Royal Botanical Gardens, as well as celebrating Alanah Fernandez 16th birthday, in the picnic-like setting.

The amazing performance included a simple yet interchangeable set design and some colourful costumes worn by the actors. The original Elizabethan style was re-contextualised with influences from rock idols such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Lady Gaga and The Beatles.

Audience participation played a part, half way through the act audience members were taken onto stage to perform a funny little dance alongside the actors. At the end of the night, we got some reviews from our students:

  • It was good to see the costumes and accents from a different perspective – Coran Henry
  • Very funny and entertaining -Jennifer Ferguson
  • Took some unexpected yet hilarious turns – Alani Apineru & Lavinia Muus

Students arrived safely home after a long bus-singing ride.
