Year 9 Impact Program

Martine Walls , Dean of Character and Wellbeing Program Development

The Impact Program continues each Friday, in the new learning eco-system of home! Our staff have been working hard to modify the Program to ensure that it is in alignment with its goals; it is meaningful and purposeful, while still providing student choice and ownership where possible, and not compromising on the outcomes we set out to achieve at the beginning of the year.

While a new experience for all, with an adjusted format and delivery, we see remote learning as another exciting opportunity within the Year 9 Program. This cohort has so far proven themselves to be very adaptable, and this is another chance for the students to grow, excel and thrive.

Weekly Online Learning Modules

During their remote learning experience, students will take part in weekly online learning modules devised by Mindscholar (which is staffed by trained psychologists), and aims  to enhance wellbeing and student performance. All students take part in interactive lessons to improve engagement and learning, and each will receive a certificate upon completion.

Kindness Project

Year 9s will also complete a Kindness Project that will positively impact communities hardest hit during these times. Students will research the effects on various community sectors and decide on a community that most interests them, before strategically planning and implementing their meaningful idea to make a positive difference.

Wellbeing Reflection and Mentor Group Physical Challenge

Students will also spend time on Fridays reflecting on their own wellbeing; developing and exploring tools that improve their own mental health, and engage in a weekly Mentor Group Physical Challenge.

Connection Electives

To finish each Friday, students will lead connection electives and incorporate a Fun Friday themed activity.

We wish the Year 9 students the best of luck as we collectively navigate our way through this experience!
