SUCCESSFUL OPEN DAY
Collingwood College held a very successful Open day yesterday with many new and some existing families taking the opportunity to see the school for the first time or learn more about programs (such as the secondary school program) which they are unfamiliar with.
Thanks to Collingwood College families who spread the word to other families, friends and neighbours about the open day. Special thanks to secondary school SRC representatives and staff who assisted with school tours, ushering visitors and welcoming families at the front desk. Teachers and students spent considerable time before Open Day putting up displays and ensuring the school grounds looked at their best for visitors. We hope that the school will pick up some new enrolments for 2020 following the open day.

AUSTRALIAN MATHEMATICS COMPETITION
The Australian Mathematics Competition will be held on Thursday, 9 August.
That seems like it's still a long way away, but entries need to be in by Thursday, 31 May.
This event has traditionally been well represented by our students, and there are many past papers for students to practise with beforehand.
Please add your child's name if they are interested to the Google sheet below with link:
https://forms.gle/F8Gt3CsWqmNagd3T7
The school will then enrol these students in the Australian Maths Competition.
The cost this year is $8 per student.
Students will need to pay through Compass once enrolled. Parents will be notified when enrolments are confirmed in June. Don't pay until then.
Those students who have done the Maths Competition in the past have enjoyed it and they all receive a certificate for their participation and achievement.
Thank you

CALL TO HELP THE HOMELESS
The Year 11 Intermediate VCAL class are currently completing a unit on homelessness as part of their Personal Development Skills subject. They have been researching this complex issue and visited The Big Issue to hear from one of their vendors. The students decided that they would like to do what they can to help those in need. They have chosen to organise and run a range of material aid fundraisers to assist the homeless.
The students have decided to collect blankets to donate to Anglicare as part of their annual blanket drive, non-perishable food to donate to Foodbank Victoria, and sanitary items such as pads and tampons to donate to Share the Dignity.
There will be labelled collection boxes in the front office from the 23rd of April to the 7th of May. Any donations are greatly appreciated and we thank you in advance for supporting this very worthy cause.
Below are the posters the students have created that you may have seen around the school.
