Rugby 2.75
Another 10 wins across all age groups at Knox and Waverley!
There has been a marked improvement in our tackle contest work across all our teams. As a result, we are playing fast support-based exciting rugby. The challenge for all our teams is to re-cycle the ball in under 2.75 seconds, from the point of contact to the long place and clearing ruck pass.
Coach Codsi’s 14Bs, currently unbeaten, kicked off Saturday’s impressive performances. 15Bs, 14As and 15As continued the playing style and we had 4 emphatic wins before 10.00am. I really liked the performances of Jasper, Jack and Ethan in the 15Bs.
Rugby is often quoted as a game for all shapes and sizes. When you play the game as we do … it is! Opens Rugby is on fire at St Pius, with good numbers at training and exciting winning performances on the field, fuelled by enthusiasm and fitness. The on-field team spirit is a joy to behold and three wins at Opens is a reflection of our approach and attitude.
16As quietly go about their winning way which is great preparation for Opens Rugby next season. Elsewhere look no further than our 13As and Bs who are playing some electrifying rugby, ensuring a bright future for rugby at St Pius. Believe me - there are some Waratahs and Wallabies amongst them.
To all our coaches we are aiming for team mobility, with all our players on the move throughout the game, going forward in attack and defence, supporting the ball carrier, getting numbers to the breakdown and scoring tries!
ISA Saturday approaches … keep the fire burning!

Dear St Pius X Rugby Parents and Supporters,
Tickets are now on sale for the SPX Rugby Supporters' Club Dinner, to be held from 7pm on Friday 21 June at the Roseville Golf Club. Come and enjoy a great night of fun and entertainment and help raise funds for our rugby-playing sons. The link below will take you directly to the Trybooking Ticketing Site:
https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=502134&.
We are delighted to again have former Wallaby, currently Rugby Australia Elite Coaching Development Officer, and Fox Sports personality, Rod Kafer, as our MC for the evening.
Tickets are $150 per head (unchanged from last year), which includes canapes and drinks on arrival, a two course meal with wine and beer, great entertainment, live auctions, silent auctions, raffles and lucky door prizes.
The dinner is the Rugby Club’s principal fundraising event for the year and we rely on your support at our dinner to raise the money needed to fund initiatives that improve your son’s Rugby development and enjoyment in ‘our’ game which also forms life-long friendships which our boys will develop through their involvement in SPX rugby.
Again, this season the Rugby Club has budgeted to spend in excess of $50,000 to assist the College in the further development of the rugby program, in both the Senior and Junior Colleges – including (but not limited to) funding the Rugby Development Officer and external assistant rugby coaches, financial support for College touring squads (Opens – Gold Coast Tour; Under 15’s – New Zealand Tour; Prep First XV – Armidale TAS Tour); filming and analysis of games; and financially supporting students’ referee accreditation courses.
Support your sons. Enjoy a great night out.
We look forward to seeing you at the SPX Rugby Dinner!
