Oztag Gala Day
We had 121 students competed at the Regional Oztag Gala Day last term. All students displayed great skill, team work and sportsmanship and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The year 12 boys team were victorious in their competition and were crowned South West Sydney Oztag Gala Day champions. They will compete at the State tournament in Week four.
A big thank you to Miss Saliba and Mr Dunn for their time and effort in organising and training the teams.
In the last week of Term Two, our Opens Girls Football team travelled to the Riverina region to play Albury High School in the final 16 series. In a gallant and gutsy performance the girls went down fighting 2-0. I am so proud of the effort of the whole squad. With three starting players out with injury, sickness and unavailability, the girls lifted their level of play in their teammates’ absence and performed admirably. They showed heart, passion and a huge amount of skill in true "CECIL SPIRIT". Indeed, I am a very proud team coach.
Well done girls on your outstanding displays all season. This is fourth year in a row we have qualified for the final 16 teams in the NSW CHS (Combined High Schools) competition.
Adrijana Prostran, Michelle Prasad, Jessica Narvaiza, Bianca Dempsey, Ashton King and Brendan Prasad competed at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships in week one. They all tried their best. Congratulations to all students on their fantastic cross country season.
This week we competed in the Football NSW Futsal State Championships. We had teams in the U14, U16 and Opens Girls competitions as well as the U14 Boys event. All teams played very well. The U14 Boys, U14 Girls and Opens Girls failed to progress from their pools. The U16 Girls were our best performed team. They finished second in their pool, but bowed out in the quarter finals to our nemesis Mamre Anglican School. An outstanding effort all team members.
Futsal is a sport widely embraced by the students here at our school and we will continue to foster the development of our students.
