Engaging opportunities in creative arts for Year 7

Our Music classes

Last semester, half of Year 7 students worked through the Visual Arts course and the other through the Music course.

Terms One and  Two were jam packed, filled with many different learning experiences for Year 7.

In Music, many talents developed, as students learnt how to read music scores, play the ukulele and keyboard.  They even learnt how to compose a song and build their confidence whilst performing in front of an audience.

Visual Arts

In Visual Arts,  students learnt different ways to paint, draw and create sculptures, through to learning about different artists and the purpose of their art making practice.

National Gallery excursion

A trip to Canberra, to the National Gallery of Australia enabled students to engage with traditional and contemporary works which helped them broaden their knowledge and understanding of the arts.

It was a wonderful and valuable learning experience to see students create and develop skills, giving them opportunities to view the world around them and step out of their comfort zones, to create musical and visual experiences, all in the name of teaching and learning.
