Our great school community

Midnight

Not a sound from the pavement

Has the moon lost her memory

She is smiling alone.

School Development Day

Welcome back to Term 3!  At our recent school development day, our teachers worked on plans to expand our C.E.C.I.L skills from our Year 8 innovation electives (which is where they are currently taught) to our broader Year 7-10 curriculum.  Students will need these skills of communication, engagement, collaboration, innovation and leadership in order to be successful workers in the 21st century.  In terms of my introductory quote which refers to the moon, as we know it has been fifty years since humans first landed on the moon.  If we consider the innovations that have occurred in the last fifty years, it is impossible to fully understand the jobs that will exist fifty years from now.  This is why we are starting to emphasise these soft skills or general capabilities in our curriculum so that students are prepared to undertake any sort of job that emerges in their working lifetime.

New Enrolment Policy

The NSW Department of Education recently revised its enrolment policy and principals are in the process of being trained in these new procedures.  The new policy may have implications for any out-of-area applications for our school but every child is able to attend their local designated school.  I will provide more information on the new enrolment policy in due course.

Student Success

Congratulations to Violeta Bozanic of Year 10 has just released her debut EP and single.  We're all very proud of her achievements in the music industry.  Having appeared on Australia's Got Talent in 2016, Violeta has gone to achieve so much.
