PRAYERS PLEASE

Thank you to all the boys who have been praying for the Ferguson Family.  Please continue with the prayers for the repose of the soul of Kevin Ferguson, and for the Ferguson family.

Thank you also to those who have been contributing and sending messages to the Group together account.  Thank you also to those who are organising play dates with Sam.  All the Junior School parents have received emails regarding this.  This is 'Unity in Community' in action.

Mrs Kristy Ferguson emailed me yesterday.  She is very thankful for all the prayers.  She also said that it would be okay if the SPX community wish to attend the Memorial Service. I quote,

‘I spoke with Sam tonight and he is happy for people from his school to come to the memorial. Please feel free to pass on details to anyone who wishes to attend.’

It will be a Memorial Service because Sam’s dad, Kevin, was involved in trials and has done the very noble and honourable act of donating his body to science.

Mrs Ferguson hasn’t secured a date or time yet but I will email when I find out the time.  If you are attending with your son, it would be good as a mark of support if they attend in school uniform.

Thank you.

PRIZE GIVING CEREMONY

On the last day of school for the boys we had a beautiful End of Year Mass and after recess we had a Sports Assembly where all the sports not already recognised were acknowledged.  We announced the major prize of the Sportsman of the Year.  Congratulations to Riley Watt on being named the Sportsman of the Year.

After the Sports Awards we had the Academic Assembly where we acknowledged the first place in each subject (KLA) with a Gold Fide.  The top 5% in each subject received a Silver and each class had two Blue Awards and one Christian Living Award.  Congratulations to the major award winners who will also get their names on the Honour Board.  The PB Wilson Award – for service and initiative in the Edmund Rice tradition went to Beau Gaughan.  The Br P Leary Scholarship for Year 6 went to Michael Cheah.  The Br Quirke Scholarship winner for Year 7 is Sid Rana.  These boys have their tuition fees paid for a year.  In the following year they are ineligible, so somebody else may win it but in the year afterwards they are eligible again.  Thank you to all the parents who attended.
