Good luck Mr Flew

Thank you to the school community

As many of you may know, I am retiring at the end of this year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the great number of parents and caregivers who have offered tremendous support to the school, as we have worked together to develop your children into happy and productive adults. Teenagers need to hear consistent messages about expectations, and our job is made easier through your support. Tough love is often difficult, but always worth doing. Thank you for being there for your children.

I will take with me fond memories of the students at Cecil Hills. I have seen 16 Higher School Certificate cohorts graduate, and it has been wonderful to see how many of them have returned to visit the school, sometimes many years after graduating, just to say hi and update us on their career progress. They often refer to themselves as part of the Cecil family, and this exemplifies the unique characteristic of our school – students and teachers working towards a common goal, as partners in learning. I will miss the Cecil kids, especially those who have needed extra guidance and support. Their success is often hard-earned, and hence more treasured. I wish them all well.

Cecil Hills has the best teaching staff I have worked with during my career. It has been my great honour to work alongside them. Their passion for teaching is outstanding, and their dedication to helping students achieve their personal best is second to none. They also provide wonderful care and support to students in need. The same is true of our school administration and support staff, whose dedication to excellence provides wonderful support to our teachers.

I have made many friends during my 19 years at this school, and I hope to hear of the continued success of our school, its students and staff. I believe that the school has outstanding prospects for the future, as Mr Sutton, Mrs James, Mrs Tyson and Ms Scott lead a talented and capable executive team, backed by excellent classroom teachers and support staff. The future will provide many challenges, and Cecil Hills High School is well-prepared to meet those challenges, and to continue producing outstanding young people for many years to come.

I sincerely thank the school community for your friendship and support during my time at Cecil Hills. I have enjoyed every day I have spent here. Best wishes to all for 2017 and beyond.

S Flew, Deputy Principal
