Buddy readers

A great big THANK YOU goes out to all of the amazingly dedicated Year 8 Buddy Readers 2016! These students graciously volunteered to work with our students in the Support Unit during 2016 in the Buddy Reading Program. Reinforced reading is an essential part in the Multilit Reading Tutor Program, which Mrs Spencer teaches to the students in the Support Unit. The Year 8 students received training in the Multilit Reinforced Reading Strategies - Pause, Prompt, Praise. They patiently listened to our students read books; pausing if they made a mistake or hesitated, helping students to sound out words, praising students for good reading, used the super 6 comprehension strategies and were active interested listeners. Not only did our students progress in their reading abilities, they also made new friends! Our students thoroughly enjoyed working with these wonderful Buddy Readers. Year 8 Buddy Readers 2016 were amazing, kind, young adults who respected and valued the time they had within the support unit.

Recently, Ms O'Malley and Mrs Spencer, as well as all the students and staff in the support unit, thanked these students by the giving of certificates and having a yummy morning tea. Thank you to the following Buddy Readers 2016:-
