Assistant Principal's Message

Term 5 Activities

In the last week of school starting December 16, students in years 7 to 9 enjoy an activity week that we refer to as Term 5. This runs from Monday to Wednesday.. Students have the choice of all-day activities or a morning and afternoon activity. Some of these activities include preparing for Mary Poppins, art workshops, community service, golf, recreational swimming, movie appreciation, and even dog walking! Some students are yet to decide on their program so please ask at home what activities they are doing and if they have not filled in the Google form, please ask them to do so. If students are unable to attend Term 5, there is provision on the form to indicate this. Parents will need to contact the College if this is the case.

Australian Catholic Youth Festival

At the time of writing, I'm in Perth wide awake at 5.00am, due to the time difference between the east and west coasts of Australia.  12 students, 2 Lasallian Youth Ministers, our Arts Youth Minister, Nick and myself, have made the pilgrimage to Australian Catholic Youth Festival. We are just about to go into the last day here, culminating in a pilgrimage from the conference centre to Trinity College where mass will be celebrated. We have had an incredible and life-changing time. We have listened to awesome faith-filled music ,including Father Rob Gallea, listened to inspirational speakers, attended workshops, prayed and celebrated mass with over 5000 other young pilgrims from all over Australia. O'Connor is a part of a bigger diocesan group (which has been awesome) accompanied by Bishop Kennedy who has most definitely been one of the most enthusiastic pilgrims. ACYF is held every two years. At Mass tonight they will announce where this will be held. Wherever it is, I strongly recommend that if you can go, that you do. It will create a foundation for a happy and full life.
