Reporting and student led conferences
Semester One 2022
As we approach the end of Term 2 our class teachers have been busy completing assessments and writing comments for student reports. These will be released to parents on the last day of Term 2 through Compass.
Although schools have remained open, 2022 has continued to be a very disrupted year. There has been a significant increase in student absences due to illness or isolation.
Our teachers have continued to work diligently to 'fill the gaps' from periods of missed learning and to cater for your child's learning needs in the best way possible.
Tutoring has been provided to students in year 1, 2 and 3, and our Education Support staff have been assigned to all year levels to assist as well.
Our Semester One reports will contain an outline of what has been covered in semester one as well as a comment on how your child has progressed with his/her/their learning.
Specialist teachers have provided a statement on what has been covered in their subject area.
Your child’s progress has been scored against the Victorian Curriculum strands as required by the Department of Education and this summary can be very confusing!
In the example below:
-The letters in the first column refer to the scale definition explaining whether your child is working at, below or above the expected level (which is the shaded yellow section).
-The black dot is the current achievement for this year to date.
-The dotted line shows the progress your child has made since the last time the subject area was reported on.
-The number in the circle indicates how many months it has been since last reported. (In this example 6 months)
-For those in the Junior school the Level C or D (in the columns to the left of Foundation) refers to pre- Foundation skills- and means your child is not yet mastering the expected level for Foundation.
In addition to the semester report, teachers are making use of SEESAW as a tool for sharing your child's learning with you and connecting you to some of the key activities being completed in class. Please make sure you take the time to check SEESAW out!
Our Student Led Conferences will be held in Term 3 Week 2. This will provide you with the opportunity to speak more fully about your child's progress and future learning.
These will be offered both at school in person or via Webex.
More information to come.
For those of you who have children in J3 with Ms McPherson or M20 with Ms Repusic, student led conferences will be held in the last week of term. Booking for these will open next week through Compass.
Ms McPherson will be replaced for the first 2 weeks of Term 3 by Mrs Taryn Andrews.
Ms Repusic will be on leave until August 10th and will be replaced by Mr Scott Fraser.
