Dear Families

I hope all our mothers, grandmothers and special ladies in our children’s lives had a very special day last Sunday with your children or grandchildren. Mother’s Day is a day to stop and reflect on the relationships that our mums have with their children. It honours their work, their leisure time, their contributions to their communities, their sporting interests and most importantly their family.  It is a day when we celebrate our mums and the priority they give to raising their children and making a home in which there is love, care, guidance and forgiveness.  I hope you were all spoiled and enjoyed the presents you received from your children.

Thank you  to all mums who attended our Mother’s Morning. There was such a positive vibe throughout the school as our mums and children made badges and magnets, got pampered, decorated biscuits, made jewellery and crowns and had their photo taken. Thank you to Ashley Marshall for organising the morning as well as to our staff who helped out at the activities and supplied a delicious morning tea.

Our children were able to purchase some wonderful presents from our Mother’s Day Stall. I hope you enjoyed them. Thank you to our PFTA and in particular Sarah Magro for all her help. The winners of the raffle were - Sarahluna A, Ellen J and Luke G.

Thanks to our mums who helped on the day - Kelly Goodfellow, Michelle Sneddon, Bec Ogle, Janelle Ferrinda, Jill Marr, Mary Rizk, Melanie Burlak, Carly Portelli, Jardene Cera, Maria Apap, Bec Robertson, Ilana Barry, Sarah Riley, Sarah Notaro and Sharon Smith.

We appreciate your support and all you do for our school!

Our Year 5 children had an amazing time at camp at Phillip Island. They were blessed with some wonderful weather, especially watching the fairy penguins parade from the water to their burrows. They enjoyed the activities such as the big swing, flying fox, archery and circutron. Going to camp is a wonderful experience for our children and it is great to see their independence and problem solving skills come to the forefront. Our staff also do an amazing job ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Thanks to Ashley Marshall, Fiona Brugaletta, Rhylee Connell, Kayla Wilson Alison BK, Michele Dunlop, Simone Maltese, Terri Bosanko, Melissa Clarke, Lorraine Earl and Sean Morris

I was also pleased for our staff that so many parents thanked them for taking care of their child. We appreciate your gratitude!

We wish our children in Year 3 and 5 all the best as they participate in NAPLAN over the next two weeks. This week the children will participate in the Writing and Reading assessments. Language Conventions and Mathematics follows next week.

COVID Update

A reminder that your child can attend school if they are deemed to be a close family contact. They are required to wear a mask if they are over 8 years of age as well as completing a RATs test five times within the 7 day period. You are also asked to contact the school to let us know.

Thank you to our families who are testing twice a week with our RATs tests. This is important so we can avoid our children from contacting COVID at school.

If your child tests positive for COVID and they have completed their 7 days of isolation they do not need to take a RATs test for 12 weeks after they are released from isolation.

One of the repercussions of the pandemic is that it is extremely difficult to replace teachers when they are sick. We have a bank of emergency teachers we use as well as several agencies. As a result we have had to split some classes. This is not ideal, but at times we do not have an option. We will try and avoid the classes being split for the whole day. I thank you for your understanding and hopefully this is will only happen on rare occasions.

Positive Behaviour For Learning - PBL

We continue to focus on being RESPECTFUL when using our school property and resources. We live in a consumable world where if something gets damaged or lost it is easily replaced. Our goal is for our children to understand that we need to be careful when using equipment at school as some things cannot be replaced. We also want them to realise that they are lucky to have the garden spaces, oval, and play areas and they need to look after them.

You can support us at home by reminding your children to take care when using their and others toys, equipment and property. Remind them to respect that you have provided them with these things and they need to look after them.

God Bless
