A huge congratulations to all students in Years 3-9 who participated in the Australian Math Competition this year – it was our largest ever participation in the event! Students worked through 30 questions which really challenged their mathematical understandings, especially focusing on their reasoning skills. Results will be communicated to participating students and families as soon as they have been shared with the school.

Colour Run
On Wednesday 14 September, Brookside College will be holding its annual Colour Fun Run.
The Colour Fun Run provides Brookside P-9 students with the opportunity to participate in an exciting event, empowering them to contribute to the school community. Classrooms and cohorts will work collaboratively to raise as much money as possible, whilst also promoting healthy/active lifestyles as students will be running/walking through the entirety of the event.
This year's proceeds will go towards purchasing equipment and resources for the PE department, and students will also be able to earn prizes by fundraising.
Colour stations will be set up along a track, and each cohort will participate for 20-30 minutes around the oval at various times throughout the day, during which time colourful powders will be thrown at and around the students. Students will also participate in carnival themed activities under the hayshed after their run. Students are asked to wear a white t-shirt (not school polo) to better highlight the colour of the powder used during the event.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Caitlin Pretty or Daniel Cooper at the school.
Year 9 Experimental Learning
This term Year 9 students engaged in the experiential learning block as part of the Year 9 Futures program. This program provided students with an opportunity to learn within a real-world context experiences both onsite at school and out in the local community over a 5 week period.
We would like to congratulate our Year 9 students for their participation in the program – by all accounts the students enjoyed the program, and we have also received some wonderful feedback from members of the community regarding their behaviour at the venues and on public transport.
Thank you to Dale Thompson for all of his organisation and coordination of this program and thank you to the staff for their flexibility and support over this 5 week period.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
