Bully Zero SLA Information Night

On Wednesday the 18th of May, the SLA students and their families were given the opportunity to participate in a webinar provided by BullyZero called SafetyNet. This session explored bullying and cyberbullying, using online platforms appropriately, and where to go when they need help. Students were given the opportunity to interact with Louise the presenter and share their own knowledge too.

Families also learnt about their own rights and responsibilities in the online world.

If your family was unable to attend, you can watch the recording following this link which is active until next Wednesday the 25th of May. https://us06web.zoom.us/rec/share/GzUNqMbIrOktxjtCGIIvUzASbf0NYxbVGFZaCl5WLzdhZvz_77GxYKi1r9zPWmEi.78qGtgdvucedMcag

MLA families will be given a similar opportunity in term three so stay tuned!

Here are some key learnings shared from the SLA students.

Savannah I  – We learnt about bullying and bullying online. We learning that cyberbullying is not unfriending a friend because you’re in a fight or being bully. Also don’t create fake profiles because that could get you banned from the app. Before you post photos check with your friend.

Gauri D – Bullying is something that’s repeated not a one time thing. In 7 months it was recorded that there were 100 million fake accounts on Facebook.

Daniel T – It can cause many bad things if you’re online bullying someone. The person you’re bullying can get self conscious and depressed.  It is important to use privacy settings. The age you need to be to use Snapchat is 13, to use Instagram is 13, and to use Tiktok is 13 with a guardian's permission.

Rani Q – If you cyberbully someone you can get punished by the law. Before you post there’s three gates to go through  - Is it kind? Is it necessary? Is it true?

Eva K – You can get bullied not only in real life but online as well so you need to be safe. You can ignore it if it happens.

Anthony C – Make sure a new person you're talking to online is who they say they are. Make sure they’re not some random person pretending to be someone they’re not.

Christian N – Cyberbullying is everywhere around the world.
