Wii Gaay Virtual Learning Hub 2020
Our Wii Gaay program looked a little different this year due to the restrictions. We conducted a two day virtual learning hub at St Philomena’s for our 2 students; Demi Green and Jaydah Duncan. One of our students Nusaiah See was unwell and could not attend.
Our theme this year was based on the Naidoc theme of “Always Was, Always Will Be”. The activities were based on Local and/or Family Stories, Traditions, Totems, Elders, Animals. Plants and Sites.
It was a different experience for our students but they were glad to catch up with their friends from the previous camps through our zoom sessions.
They enjoyed the different activities and made some wonderful artwork and other items to tell their stories. These were then placed in a box and revealed in a presentation by the students.
The students were so nervous before the presentation but did a wonderful job, they even got popcorn to eat during the presentations.
This year we also bid farewell to our Year 6 Wii Gaay students as it was their last camp.
