Introducing our new Teachers

A little bit about our new Teachers!

Mrs Melanie Alexander

Prep Teacher

Prep on Wednesdays and Thursdays

Along with my husband Cameron, and teenagers, Zoe and Tom, I go to St Clements in Kingston, where I love serving in the Sunday School program (Greenhouse). Browsing in bookshops and libraries makes me very happy – it’s such a great feeling to have a new book (or books!) to read.

Mrs Desiréé Smuts

Secondary Teacher

Teaching:

Grade 8-10 English

Grade 8 SOSE

Grade 9 Quest

Grade 12 (DP) Psychology

From South Africa to Queensland to Tasmania; what a blast it has been. Nature is where I find peace; the classroom is where I thrive.

Mrs Tracy Brandis-Gray

Secondary Teacher

Head of Faculty Languages

I am teaching this year classes 3, 6, 7, 9 10 & 12 Indonesian and Stage 2 Japanese.

I have been living in Launceston, after making the trek across the Nullarbor Plain from Western Australia in 2010 with my husband and our two children Bronson and Marsinah. In Launceston I have taught Indonesian and Japanese at Launceston Church Grammar since 2012-2019, as well as Indonesian at St Thomas Moore's Catholic Primary School. Last year I did a brief stint back in Western Australia at Bunbury Baptist College, however God had other plans for me and my family and the call of Tasmania brought us back for me to take up a teaching position here at Southern Christian College.

When I'm not teaching languages, you might find me crafting, reading books, travelling or spending time with my family and pets. We have only just started going to C3 Church in the Huon Valley after leaving our church family at Legana Christian Church.

Salam Hangat
