Rules of Remote Learning

We commence Week 6 of remote learning with no end in sight and our State’s infections are stubbornly high. I am so proud of the boys’ efforts to keep up with their work and I ask for the community to keep our HSC students in their prayers as they move to have their final assessments in a new, online-learning mode.

This week, I wanted to share with you a couple of beautiful poems from our Year 6 boys. They contain some great advice and interesting observations!

Rules of Remote Learning by Nicholas Stojanovski

This is what I learned during the very weird, very confusing,

and very lonely period of remote learning.

Never stay unmuted on a teams call, or you will be subject to

huge embarrassment and banishing from society.

Never ask when we will go back to school because the answer

changes every day.

Never forget to submit your work, since you will always get

guaranteed to be chased up by a teacher.

Never forget to answer the question of the day, because

people will think you don’t exist and have vanished without a trace.

Never miss a lesson.

Always plug in your computer since batteries going out is very inconvenient.

Always stay connected with friends.

And never sit next to your brother during remote learning.

Rules of Remote Learning by Noah Young

This is what I learned Remote Learning:

Never leave your mic on because you never know what your little sister will say.

Never sleep in too far, or you’ll receive the scolding of your life.

Never make your parents angry, lunch and your washing might come very late.

Never sleep on the warm side of the pillow, you may never wake up.

Never let your cat sleep on a naked leather sofa, it’s an expensive mistake.

Always love your family, and friends.

Always take a moment to look at the window, to love, look with wonder to the world.

And never lose the plot.

Vaccinations of HSC students in Strathfield, Burwood and Bayside

Despite these LGAs being added to the list of priority HSC vaccinations, regrettably, our HSC students are not yet a priority for NSW Health. We will continue to advocate on the students’ behalf, but I wish to take the opportunity to publicly thank Dr Fiona Martin and Ms Jodi Mackay for writing to the NSW Government urging them to include our students in the priority areas of vaccination.

Letter from the Governor of NSW

I am pleased to share with the College community a video message from Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of NSW to all students, staff and families.

Keep in your prayers

Nicholas Lipari (Year 10) whose father is seriously ill in hospital. It is even more challenging with hospitals implementing strict COVID-19 restrictions that make being near your loved one even more challenging than usual.

In Memoriam

We keep in our prayers Christian Rodrigues (Year 8) on the loss last week of his grandfather, Jose Rodrigues, and Luke Goldsmith (Year 10) who also lost his grandfather recently. We pray for Anthony Belfiore (Year 12), whose uncle Anthony Belfiore passed away tragically in a motor vehicle accident. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May she rest in peace.

Amen.
