Transport changes over time

 

As an International Baccalaureate world school, authorised to teach the Primary Year’s Programme, we explore six transdisciplinary themes each year. 

 

During this unit we will discuss the changes of transport over time and how these changes have affected our lives. We will ask the children to bring in artefacts such as photos, pictures and models of different types of transport to show its development.

  • The way transport has changed over time

Action

Action in the PYP is initiated independently by the student as a result of the learning process. Action may be bringing a book or artefact related to the inquiry to school, or student initiated drawings/posters/research. We celebrate our students’ ACTION every day in our classrooms. Approaches to Learning

  • Research: using computers/books to research
  • Comprehension: answering questions about transport from their reading
  • Analysis: comparing old and new transport
  • Evaluation: predicting the timeline of the different types of transport
  • Creating: creating transport with their buddies
  • Social: working as teams with the buddies and share the materials=
