From the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's Primary School,

Welcome back to Term 3!

I trust that you all had a relaxing break with your children and ready for a great term full of learning. I had a lovely break with my own family and managed to get away on a driving holiday out in the countryside. It was a little bit cold at night in our tent but fun all the same! Here are a few photos of our adventure.

A letter was sent out at the end of the holidays with instructions for what to do if you have been interstate to comply with the Victorian government's COVID Safe protocols. It is attached here as a reminder.

Over the holidays, the builders did not stop. They are making good progress and are on track to finish at the end of January 2022. We also had a new roof put over the library. More works will continue at the school and this term we will prepare to move the Foundation and Senior classes out of their existing rooms so that the refurbishment can continue into Term 4. The Foundation classes will move into the library with the Year 1 students and the Senior Students will move into the Hall.

This term, we are unable to use our Canteen and Lyn Harris will organise Subway instead. Subway lunches will be available on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please look out for notices on PAM/Operoo.

Enrolments for 2022

If you have a Foundation student beginning school in 2022 and have not yet completed an enrolment form, I urge you to do so as soon as possible. We have almost filled our Foundation classes for next year and we would hate for anyone to miss out!

This term, all existing families will be invited to attend an enrolment interview with me. It is important to bring along your preschool child to this meeting.

PAM

We are currently in the process of transitioning from Operoo to a new parent communication system called PAM. PAM stands for Parent Access Module. This platform will enable parents to access future school reports, book parent/teacher interviews, and give permission for excursions, as well as other important information. Instructions will be sent out this week on how to join PAM. Please contact Kerry O'Connell if you have difficulty with this via email koconnell@sttcbourne.catholic.edu.au

Student-Led Conferences

On July 27 and 28 we will be holding student-led conferences (parent/teacher interviews).

On July 27 classes will stop at 1:30pm and teachers will prepare to begin interviews at 2:00pm and work through until 7:30pm. To assist us in facilitating the interviews on Tuesday July 27 we ask that if possible students are collected early from school at 1:30pm. This will provide an opportunity for the teachers to have lunch and move into interviews at 2pm. For those families who are unable to collect their children early on this day supervision is provided at school in the Hall.

On July 28 interviews will begin at 4:00pm and conclude at 6:00pm.

Each interview will go for 10 minutes.

The purpose of these interviews is for students to share their learning goals with their parents and for the teacher to provide information to the parents regarding the student's academic and behavioral progress.

It is anticipated that these interviews will be held face to face. If the restrictions change again due to COVID outbreaks we will move to remote interviews. For now, though let's hope and pray that we can do these face to face.

In the first week of Term 3, parents will be provided with instructions on how to make a booking for a parent/teacher interview.

Uniform

We are now into Winter and all students need to be wearing their winter uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform. PSW has reopened now for any family who needs to purchase a new uniform. Many children have grown a lot over the last 12 months and may need a new pair of pants for example. I have noticed many students with pants that are way too small now! Also, please remember that navy socks need to be worn. Please do not allow your child to wear socks with logos on them.

If you require financial help with the uniform please give me a call at the office on 59967525 and I may be able to help with any second-hand uniform.

School Advisory Committee Annual General Meeting

On Tuesday, August 3 we will be holding the Annual General Meeting for the School Advisory Committee. If you would like to join the committee, please email me via principal@sttcbourne.catholic.edu.au as soon as possible.

Please consider! It is a great way to be involved in the life of the school.

Thanks and have a great first week of Term 3!
