Principal’s Message

Mr Nick Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last week was action packed for all of us at Sacred Heart! The Athletics Carnival was a great day out, with perfect weather and fantastic participation by all our students. I was very impressed with the way everyone supported and encouraged their friends and put in 100% for every event. The Sacred Heart Olympics on Thursday was also a lot of fun! Our students participated in some geography quizzes, Olympics trivia and learnt some Olympics history. Once again, the enthusiasm and friendships of our students shone brightly.

You will have noticed last week that we have moved to using the online permission function on Compass. This will include the ability to pay for events online rather than sending permission slips and money into the front office. There are currently two events awaiting parental permission on Compass - the Term 3 Tennis Program (all students) and the Diocesan Athletics Carnival (for those selected in the team). If you need any help in setting up your Compass login or with providing permission online, please do not hesitate to contact the office for assistance.

There have been a few instances recently of parents contacting school staff through social media after school hours. Whilst we understand the realities of a small school community, please be mindful that staff also deserve time with their own families. Sacred Heart staff can be contacted by calling the school phone during our office hours of 8.00am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday, or via our school email accounts. If you need to send an email after hours, do not expect a reply until the next school day. Please do not contact staff about school matters through social media or personal phone numbers. In the event of an emergency after hours, please feel free to email me directly on nbaird1@arm.catholic.edu.au and I will reply as soon as possible.

I will be away on Thursday and Friday this week attending the Term 3 Principals Meeting in Armidale. Mrs Fenton will be in charge in my absence.

Special mention to Ayden Greatrix who celebrates his 12th birthday today. We hope he enjoys his special day!

Have a great week!

Nick
