Student Learning
Choir
On Thursday 15th September, 14 of our students performed at the Adelaide Festival Theatre as part of the Public Primary Schools Festival of Music. The Primary Schools Festival of Music engages students in artistic excellence, cultural diversity and social inclusion through performance in Music and the Arts.
This year the Festival’s 9 concerts featured Year 5 and 6 students. To commemorate this significant change, some of the songs the choir performed included commissioned pieces -“Who Knows?”, as well as a set of four songs entitled “The Space Between Us”.
During the concerts there were a number of Guest Artists from public primary and secondary schools, other choir items that presented different musical genre, and two pieces that specifically showcased the talents of the orchestra.
It was a spectacular event that our students enjoyed being a part of and we are very proud of their commitment and involvement in this iconic event.
Sports Day (Part 1)
Thank you to our families who joined us for our Sports Day last week. It was unfortunate that the weather wasn't working with us and we needed to call it off after the first 3 events. The teams began the day with their chants, lead by our Sports Day captains, before moving into some tabloid events. Most of the students enjoyed the added challenge of competing in the rain but we know they will enthusiastically participate in the final few events and the sprints to earn more points for their team on Friday 21st November.
We look forward to seeing who will finally win Sports Day next term.
Business Enterprise with the Garden
The Garden students have worked together as part of their Business and Economics and STEM learning to develop food businesses throughout this year. They have developed a business plan looking at a wide range of aspects required to start a business, including exploring where potential ingredients come from and using their garden beds to attempt to grow some of their ingredients to use in their businesses. This week they were able to cook their product and sell it to fellow Garden students using mock currency. There was some fabulous learning that came from this, and some really tasty food cooked and sold. Some future Para Vista entrepreneurs!
