 How the World Works

Students in Prep are learning how to use their voice and instruments. In music we are exploring the way the elements work together.  They are continuing learning to read and understand symbols of music. Through songs and activities, students are gaining confidence in making and creating music.

Students will be:

  • Introduced to the time names of Taa, Ti-ti and Zaa and have opportunity to use these as they write their own informal percussion scores to perform. Students are understanding that music can be written down.
  • Reading the score to ‘Count the Beat’ and practicing for a class performance, using the percussion instruments. They are learning to listen to instructions and work together as a group.
  • Introduced to the Chime Bars and learn correct technique, as they play along to music.
  • Making their own maraca for use in a ‘sound effects’ story, so they can respond appropriately to loud/soft and high/low sounds.
