Principal Report

Dear families,

The focus this week has been on running some big ticket events across the school.

Firstly, African Drumming with our grade 34 and 56 students. The students have been learning their drumming, dance and singing routines over the last 5 weeks with Kofi Kunkpe. There efforts on the afternoon were amazing. Thank you to Kate Warner for providing the opportunity for our children and for the families who were able to make the mini performance.

Thursday was Science Night at school. It was great to see so many families and children attend school to take part together in one of our big initiatives that we have introduced this year. The night was about bringing families together to share in a taste of what Science looks like here at school each week. Thank you to Belinda Granger, Paul Taylor and Katie Smith for organising activities with the teams, and for the teaching teams who have shared their time after hours. I would also like to thank the P&F volunteers for the donut stand and Wendy for helping refresh the staff.

The laptop initiative for grade 2, 3 and 4 families closes Friday. We are well over 75% of families choosing to take part. This is an amazing show of support for our approach to learning. I am confident we will be able to show you what our little people can do when they get their own devices while maintaining a healthy balance to technology use at school. We will also continue to maintain access to computers for all at school.

We will be placing orders and letting families know a timeline once the devices are delivered to school. We are hoping that this will be this term.

And finally, well done to Mel Layton for her work in helping the wider network successful run Hoop Time for our children. They love their basketball. It would have been a big disappointment for our children, staff and families if this had been cancelled. This is not the story in all areas with the majority of Hoop Time sessions needing to be cancelled. Well done again!

We are also sharing Harry Potter Coles collectables with students in exchange for pet food, blankets or towels for Animal Aid in Coldstream. If you wish to trade, check out Monday's Compass where I will list the numbers available.

Wishing you all the best,

Craig
