INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

I AM GRATEFUL FOR...

South Melbourne Park Primary School! The staff, the students, and the wider community. I am very honored to have been successful in the Acting Principal position at Carnegie Primary School for Term 4, and this means that I will, temporarily, be saying goodbye to South Melbourne Park Primary School for the remainder of the year. I have truly been humbled by the amount of parents who have reached out to congratulate me, and I am incredibly proud of this school, the staff, the students, and all that has been achieved in such a disruptive four years.

Sincerely and honestly, thank you!

ATTENDANCE ON COMPASS

Every day of attendance at school matters! However, we completely understand that sometimes children are unwell, or other circumstances prevent them from coming to school. In these instances we ask that you submit an absence note via Compass. This will also prevent you receiving letters form the school asking for explanations for certain absences.

In order to submit an absence note select the plus button at the bottom of your app and then select ‘Submit absence note”.

From there select the reason, the date range, and any comment if you need to.

That’s it! Your child’s absence has now been explained on our system.

SCHOOL DOCUMENTATION REMINDER

There is a treasure trove of information that you can find about the school on Compass under the ‘School Documentation’ section. You can find this section by opening Compass in the web browser version, selecting the people icon, and then selecting ‘School Documentation’. Some examples of information included in this section are:

  • Compass ‘how to’
  • TheirCare information
  • Qkr Guide
  • Lunch order menu
  • Uniform information
  • Payment information
  • Families & Friends information
  • And much more!

FRIDAY BASKETBALL

Chase Basketball’s Up Skills program will be trialing a before-school training option at MSAC in Term 4. Up Skills training focuses on the development of athletes’ individual basketball skills and promotes the benefits of the sport including fitness, resilience, teamwork, and respect.

Sessions will be conducted at MSAC on Fridays from 7:30am until 8:30am. The program will be conducted from October 7th until December 9th (10 weeks). The cost per session is $25.

Please find more information here: https://chasebasketball.com.au/event/friday-mornings/

MEDICATION POLICY

A reminder that all prescribed medications for students must be handed into the office as per the school’s distribution of medication policy. The medication needs to be in the original packaging, stating the child’s name, the dosage of medication prescribed and the timing of administration. The students must go to the office to have it administered. When parents are handing it in, they need to complete the medication authority form that is available at the front office.

Please note that Panadol is not administered as a first aid strategy. Parents either need to come in to administer or preferably to take the unwell child home.

HATS AND SUNSMART POLICY

As we enter Term 4 it is important to remind everyone about our SunSmart policy. When UV levels are 3 or above (generally from mid-August to the end of April in Victoria) we need to encourage hats and sunscreen when outdoors. All students will be expected to wear their hat when outdoors, and if they have forgot their hat (or it is missing) they will be directed to play in the dedicated undercover areas.
